4、y,electsitsownfellows,andselectsandadmitsitsownundergraduatestudents・Theuniversityprovidessomelibraries,laboratories,andotherfacilities,butthecollegestakeprimaryresponsibilityfortheteachingandwell-beingoftheirstudents.EachstudentatOxfordisassignedtoatutor,whosupe
5、rvisesthestudent'sprogramofstudy,primarilythroughtutorials.Tutorialsareweeklymeetingsofoneortwostudentswiththeirtutor.Studentsmayseeothertutorsforspecializedinstruction.Theymayalsoattendlecturesgivenbyuniversityteachers・Studentschoosewhichlecturestoattendonthebas
6、isoftheirownspecialinterestsandontheadviceoftheirtutors.Theuniversity,nottheindividualcolleges,grantsdegrees-ThefirstdegreeintheartsorsciencesistheBachelorofArtswithhonors.Oxfordalsograntshigherdegrees,diplomas,andcertificatesinawidevarietyofsubjects・TheRhodessch
7、olarshipprogramenablesstudentsfromtheUnitedStates,Canada,andmanyothernationstostudyatOxfordforaminimumoftwoyears.TheBritishgovernmentgrantsMarshallscholarshipstocitizensoftheUnitedStatesforstudyatOxfordandotheruniversitiesthatarelocatedinBritain.Thecompetitionfor
