5、oexaminetheirrelevance,IshowthatUSfirmsclusterintofivedistinctandrobustgroupingsthatcorrespondwithfiveoftheeightconfigurations.Animportantcontributionofthisstudyistoshowthatproductandgeographicmarketcharacteristicsneednotmovetogether–thatis,differentiati
6、oninproductmarketsneednotrequirehighresponsivenessacrossgeographicmarkets.Further,thispaperofferstwonewarchetypesbasedonproductdifferentiationstrategiesthathavenotbeenconsideredinextantframeworks.2EversinceChandler’s(1962)pioneeringstudyonthestrategiesan
