AbstractThisstudyinvestigatedteachers’experiencesofcommunicatingwithChineseimmigrantparents.Twentyteacherswererecruitedforinterviewsfromloca

5、lschoolsthathadalargeenrollmentofChineseimmigrantstudents.ParticipatingteachersreportedthatChineseimmigrantparentsoftenexpecthighmarksfromtheirchildrenandwanttoknowtheirchild’srankingintheclass.Theseparentsalsoplacepressureonchildrentoachieveparentally-establishedgoals.Participatingteachersviewawe

6、ll-roundededucationasthepurposeofschooling,ratherthanhighmarks.Theywerefrustratedbyparents’concernoverchildren’sclassranking,andtheparentalfocusonchildren’sperceivedweaknesses.TeachersalsoreportedthatChineseparentsshouldeasethepressuretheyplaceonchildren,suggestingthatparentsshouldencouragechildre
