2、einstimulatingresearch,whichresultsinextramuralcontractsandgrants.ThisreportsummarizestheutilizationoftheFundfor2011-2012andindicatestheeffectivenessofthissupport.ProceduresforawardinggrantsfromtheFundwerethesameasinpreviousyears.TheGovernor’sapprovedguidelinesfortheadministration

3、andutilizationoftheFund:1.ThefundswereadministeredbytheVicePresidentforResearch,theManoaViceChancellorforResearch,andtheUniversityResearchCouncilwithinthegeneralguidelinesapprovedbytheUniversityPresident.2.ThefundswereadministeredinthefourcategoriesdescribedunderPartI–FundUtilizat

4、ion.I.FUNDUTILIZATIONPursuanttoHRSSection304A-2253,$50,650,202wasdepositedintotheResearchandTrainingRevolvingFundandallocatedasfollows:A.ScholarlyDevelopmentFundTheScholarlyDevelopmentFundservestwopurposes.Thefirstistoprovideseedmoneysupporttodevelopresearchprojectsortrainingprogr

5、amsforextramuralfunding.ThesecondistoprovidetravelfundsforUniversityprofessionalsthatenablethemtocommunicateresearchandnewideasatinternational,nationalorregionalmeetings,andtopermitcontactwithextramuralfundingagencies.AllocationAtotalof$400,000wasallocatedtothefundbytheVicePreside
