3、esimulationofstiffmultibodydynamicswithcontact,jointsandfriction.Theapproachusesalinearizationofthemodifiedtrapezoidalmethod,incorporatesaPoissonrestitutionmodelatcollision,andsolvesonlyonelinearcomplementarityproblempertimestepwhennocollisionsareencountered.Weprovethat,underc
4、ertainassumptions,themethodhasordertwo,afactthatisalsodemonstratedbyournumericalsimulations.Fortheunconstrained(ODE)case,themethodachievessecond-orderconvergenceandabsolutestabilitywhilesolvingonlyonelinearsystemperstep.WhenweuseaspecialapproximationoftheJacobianmatrixforthe
