4、nthesisandheattreatments.Inthiswork,monodisperseFePt-basedmagneticnanoparticlesaround5nmindiameterweresynthesizedbythereactionbetweenironacetylacetonate(Fe(acac)3)andplatinumacetylacetonate(Pt(acac)2)inbenzylether.X-rayabsorptionnear-edgestructure(XANES)spectraagr
5、eedwithtransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM)andenergydispersiveX-rayspectroscopy(EDS)thatas-synthesizednanoparticleswerecomposedofPt-richnucleiandironoxides.Whereastheircompositionandsizewasnotsensitivetothevariationintheamountofsurfactants(oleicacidandoleylamine),t
6、henanoparticlesexhibitedalargervariationinshapewiththeincreaseineachsurfactantfrom1.5to4.5mmol.After±annealinginargonatmosphereat650Cfor1hour,thenanoparticlestendedtoagglomerate.Higheramountsofsurfactantssurroundedthenanoparticlesapparentlyallowedmoresinteringbeca
7、usethedecomposedcarbonfromtheexcesssurfactantsfacilitatedthereductionofironoxides.MoreFeinthelargeannealedparticlesthenresultedinferromagneticproperties.Bycontrast,theferromagneticbehaviorandthehighestcoercivitywereobtainedwithoutsuchagglomerationinthecaseofanneal
