4、hed26November2009Abstract.Thedevelopmentofmethodsformeasuringtheefficiencyofgas–plasmadecontaminationhaslaggedfarbehindapplication.Anapproachtomeasuringtheefficiencyofproteinremovalfromsolidsurfacesusingfluorescein-labelledbovineserumalbuminandepifluorescencescanning(EFSCAN)isdescribed.Amethodforfl

5、uorescentlylabellingproteins,whichareadsorbedanddenaturedonmetalsurfaces,hasbeendeveloped.Bothapproacheshavebeenusedtoevaluatetheefficiencyofradiofrequency(RF)gas–plasmadecontaminationprotocols.Exampleswith`real'surgicalinstrumentsdemonstratethatanargon–oxygenRFgas–plasmatreatmentcanroutinelyreduce
