2、as@larc.nasa.govABSTRACTTheintegrationofpropulsionandairframeisfundamentaltothedesignofanaircraftsystem.Manyconsiderationsinfluencetheintegration,suchasstructural,aerodynamic,andmaintenancefactors.Inregardtotheacousticsofanaircraft,theintegrationcanhavesignificanteffectsonthe
3、netradiatednoise.Whetheranengineismountedaboveawingorbelowcanhaveasignificanteffectonnoisethatreachescommunitiesbelowbecauseofshieldingorreflectionofenginenoise.Thisisanobviousexampleoftheacousticeffectsofpropulsionairframeinstallation.Anotherexamplecouldbetheeffectofthepylon
4、onthedevelopmentoftheexhaustplumeandontheresultingjetnoise.Inaddition,foreffectivesystemnoisereductiontheimpactthatinstallationhasonnoisereductiondevicesdevelopedonisolatedcomponentsmustbeunderstood.Inthefuture,afocusontheaerodynamicandacousticinteractioneffectsofinstallation
5、,propulsionairframeaeroacoustics,willbecomemoreimportantasnoisereductiontargetsbecomemoredifficulttoachieve.Inadditiontocontinuedfundamentalcomponentreductionefforts,asystemlevelapproachthatincludespropulsionairframeaeroacousticswillberequiredinordertoachievethe20dBofperceive
