1、IllustratingR.JozsatheconceptofquantuminformationOverthepastdecade,quantuminformationtheoryhasdevelopedintoavigorousfieldofresearchdespitethefactthatquantuminformation,asapreciseconcept,isundefined.Indeed,theveryideaofviewingquantumstatesascarriersofsomek
2、indofinformation(albeitunknowableinclassicalterms)leadsnaturallytointerestingquestionsthatmightotherwiseneverhavebeenasked,andcorrespondingnewinsights.Wediscusssomeillustrativeexamples,includingastrengtheningofthewell-knownno-cloningtheoremleadingtoapro
3、pertyofpermanenceforquantuminformation,andconsiderationsarisingfrominformationcompressionthatreflectonfundamentalissues.Introductionminimumerrorprobabilitycannotbezero;i.e.,thestatePerhapsthemostintriguingproductofquantumcannotbeperfectlyidentifiedbyan
4、yphysicalprocess.iinformationtheoryistheconceptofquantuminformationInasecondway,maybeviewedasthecarrierofitself.Intheearly1990sCharlesBennettwasoneofthe“quantuminformation”which,althoughweleaveitfirstworkerstorecognizeandpromotethisnewconcept,undefined
5、inmorefundamentalterms,weintuitivelythinkestablishingthefoundationsofanewsubject.Takenasofas“thestateitself.”Quantuminformationisanewaprimaryingredient,quantuminformationcannotbeconceptwithnoclassicalanalog,anditisimportantdefined,buttheviewpointitfoster
6、sisrichlysuggestive,todistinguishitfromthestateidentity.Forexample,leadingtonewinterestingquestionsandmodesofgivenaphysicalrealizationofoneofthetwostatesiinterpretationforsomequantumprocesses.Inthispaperabove,quantumtheoryconsiderablyrestricts(inaric
