4、pilgrimthatturnshisbackuponselfandtheworld,andsetshisfaceresolutelytowardtheFather’sHome,mustplanthisfeetuponitsgoldenrounds.Withoutitsaidyoucannotgrowintothedivinestate,thedivinelikeness,thedivinepeace,andthefadelessgloriesandunpollutingjoysofTruthwillremainhiddenfromyou.Meditationisthe

5、intensedwelling,inthought,uponanideaortheme,withtheobjectofthoroughlycomprehendingit,andwhatsoeveryouconstantlymeditateuponyouwillnotonlycometounderstand,butwillgrowmoreandmoreintoitslikeness,foritwillbecomeincorporatedintoyourverybeing,willbecome,infact,yourveryself.If,therefore,youcons

6、tantlydwelluponthatwhichisselfishanddebasing,youwillultimatelybecomeselfishanddebased;ifyouceaselesslythinkuponthatwhichispureandunselfishyouwillsurelybecomepureandun-selfish.Tellmewhatthatisuponwhichyoumostfrequentlyandintenselythink,thattowhich,inyoursilenthours,yoursoulmostnaturallyturns,

7、andIwilltellyoutowhatplaceofpainorpeaceyouaretraveling,andwhetheryouaregrowingintothelikenessofthedivineorthebestial.Thereisanunavoidabletendencytobecomeliterallytheembodimentofthatqualityuponwhichonemostconstantlythinks.Let,therefore,theobjectofyourmeditationbeaboveandno
