3、(1934-37)position,however,heldthatAnselm’sthoughtshouldnotbeconsideredtobeChristianphilosophy.Iarguethathislaterpositionhasseveralweaknesses,andthathisfirstpositionprovidesthemoreadequateassessmentofAnselm.SaintAnselmisincontestablyaChristianthinkerof
4、thefirstrank,bothasaChristianthinkerandasaChristianthinker.Ontheonehand,histhought,life,andworkarepermeatedbytheChristianreligion.WiththeexceptionoftheDeGrammatico,allofhisdialoguesandtreatisesaremotivatedprimarilybythegoalofbringingsomegreaterandfurt
5、her1understandingtoissuesandproblemsarisingoutoftheChristianfaith.Ontheotherhand,Anselmwasapowerfulthinker,andthinkingwasanintegralpartofAnselm’sBenedictinelife,incorporatedwithinhisprayer,exercises,duties,andcounseling.Anselm’sentirebeingcametobeorie
