3、tionofthenewphysicallybased‘actionplane’fracturecriteriaofPuckiscomprehensivelydescribedintheguideline.ThePucktheoryoffailureinlaminatesisbothphysicallycorrectandeasytouseindesignpractice.ItisbasedontheCoulomb-Mohrhypothesisofbrittlefracture.Thispapergivessomeinterestingbackg

4、roundinformationonthistheory.1.ThenewguidelineVDI2014Part3Frequently,thedevelopmentofcomponentsmadefromfibrereinforcedplastics(FRP)takesunacceptablylongtimeandthedevelopmentcostsaretoohigh.Thegreatvarietyintheselectionofmaterialsandlaminateconstructionoffersontheonehandquitea

5、numberofpossiblesolutions,butontheotherhanditincreasestheeffortrequiredtofindan‘optimized’componentdesign.Inadditiontothisitisratherdifficultforanengineeractiveinpracticetobecomeawareoftheprogressinresearchandtoassessitsrelevanceandpracticalapplicability.Therefore,workhasbeen

6、goingonsincemanyyearsonaVDI(VereinDeutscherIngenieure)guidelinewiththeaimtofacilitatethedesignworkforFRPcomponents,byprovidingacompilationofprovenmethodsforFRPlaminateandcomponentdesign.ThevalueofthemeaningfulterminologyandsymbolswelladaptedforFRP,whichisprovidedintheguidelin

7、e,isnottobeunderestimated.Aftersomemoregeneralconsiderationsonmethodsforthecomponentdesignandinformationonavailablecomputerprogramsanextensivechapterdealingwiththemodellingoflaminatesfollows.Accordingtotherecognizedneedindesignpracticemacro-mechanicalandphenomenologicalmodels
