2、eed,onefearsthattheverypurposeofthisSymposiumistopronouncethedeathoftheformerandthevictoryofthelatter.Deadornot,theconflictsrevolutionhas,bothinvictoryanddefeat,taughtussomevaluablelessonswhichitscriticsareallbutreadytoforget.Themostimportantlessoncanbederivedfromtherevolution'sowngraves
3、terror:aholistic,all-or-nothingmentalitybestexemplifiedintheoftenquotedstatementoftherevolution'schiefprotagonist,ProfessorBrainerdCurrie,urgingthattheentiretraditionalconflictssystembe"scrap[ped]...withoutentertainingvainhopesthatanew'system'willarisetotakeitsplace."'Althoughthisstateme
