4、arentswereJohnandElizabeth(McKnight)Adair,nativesrespectivelyoftheCountyofDowns,IrelandandScotland.JohnAdaircametoAmericaasaBritishsoldierduringtheRevolutionarywar,wastakenprisonerbytheColonialtroops,andhelduntilthecloseofthestruggle,whenhemarriedMissMcKnightinSouthCarolina
5、,removedtoVirginia,andafterwardtoMadisonCounty,Ohio,wherehedied,aged74years.JosephE.Adairreceivedaliberaleducation.WasmarriedinMadisonCounty,Ohio,emigrating,in1836,toNobleCounty,Ind.,wherehepurchasedalargetractoflandonthesouthsideoftheTippecanoeRiver,whereheengagedinclearin
6、gandfarming,untilhisdeath,October29,1849,Hewasanhonestandhighlyrespectedcitizen,andfilledtheofficeofJusticeofthePeaceformanyyears.Mrs.Adairwasmarried,in1854,toC.B.Wood,whodiedin1871,Mrs.WooddyinginSeptember,1873.JosephW.Adairremainedonthefarmandattendedschooluntiltheageofsi
