3、rsandamonolithic¯exurehingemechanismwhichisdesignedtoprovidelargeymotion.Thestagedesignhasacoupledhingemechanismwhichcausesadicultyinmotioncontrol.Thispaperdescribesacomputerbasedinversekinematicmodelofhingemechanismandtheexperimentalveri®cationforthemodel.Inparticular,itpresentsakinema
4、ticcalibrationprocedureforimprovingtheaccuracyofthemodel.Itisshownthatthesimulationandexperimentalresultsareverysimilartoeachotherandtheyalsodemonstratethattheinversekinematicmodelcanbeusedforopenloopcontrolofthestagewithin5%error.Theopenloopcontrolofthestageprovides7.6and8.2nmpositioni
