2、tethecamshaftsofatraditionalinternalcombustionengine.anddurationactuation.Theyareusedtocontroltheopeningtiming,duration,andliftofAsignificantamountofresearchhasbeenconductedtobothintakeandexhaustvalves.Inordertodevelopmodel-baseddemonstratetheadvantageofvariablevalveactuation(VV

3、A)controlstrategies,acontrolorientedmodelwasdevelopedbypiece-wiselylinearizingthephysics-basednonlinearsystemmodel.Inoverthetraditionalcam-basedvalve-trainofbothgasolineandthispaper,anadaptivevalveliftcontrolstrategywasdevelopeddieselengines.Theinvestigationofintakevalvetimingc

4、ontroltoimprovetheintakevalveliftrepeatability.Themodelreferenceofasparkignited(SI)enginewasconductedin[4].Itwasadaptivesystemidentificationtechniquewasemployedtoestimatefoundthatatlowandpartialloadconditions,enginepumpingsystemparametersneededforgeneratingfeedforwardcontrolsig-

5、losswasreducedbetween20%and80%duetothrottle-lessnalsfortheclosed-loopcontrolscheme.Theclosed-loopliftcon-trolstrategies,alongwiththemodelreferencefeedforwardcon-operation.Fuelconsumptionwasimprovedupto10%atidle.trol,weredevelopedandimplementedinaprototypecontroller,Throughsimul

6、ationandexperiments,[5]showsthatSIengineandvalidatedonavalvetestbenchwithmultiplereferencevalveefficiencycanbeimprovedupto29%duetovariablevalveliftsatboth1200and5000r/minenginespeeds.Theexperimenttiming(VVT),comparedtoaclassic(throttled)engine.Theresultsshowedthattheactualvalvel
