4、dthatthereisashiftintheopticalabsorptionedgetowardshigherwavelength,whichindicatesadecreaseinthebandgapuponMndoping.ThephotocatalyticactivityofMndopedcatalystwasevaluatedfromthephotodegradationofmethylene2+green(MG)aqueoussolutionundervisiblelightirradiation.Mndopingeffectivel

5、yimprovedthephotocatalyticactivityofBiOClundervisiblelightirradiation.Thepossibledegradationpathwayhasbeenproposedforthephotocatalyticdegradationbyusingcertainradicalscavengers.ThephotocatalyticreactionmechanismofMndopedBiOClcatalysthasalsobeententativelydiscussed.Introduction

6、Environmentalpollutiononaglobalscaleisproposedtobethegreatestproblemthatchemicalstscientistswillfaceinthe21centuryandanincreasingnumberofthesescientistsarelookingtonewphotocatalyticsystemsforthesolution.Thephotocatalyticprocessitselfwillnotchange.Therefore,explorationandsynthe

7、sisofanewgenerationofphotocatalystsiscreatedtothatutilizetheavailablesolarspectrumandnotmerelythescarcelyavailableUVspectrumisanurgentneed.Visiblelightphotocatalysisiscurrentlybeingpursuedacrosstheglobe.Althoughthecurrentsuccessofthesephotocatalystsisquitelimitedbothfortheimme
