3、efultoolforthestudyofdiversecellularphenomena,aswellasinmedicalapplications.Inmanycases,however,thesuccessoftheuseofliposomesasdrugcarriersorvaccinesandingenedeliverydependsentirelyonboththeirformulationandthemethodofpreparation.Liposomesaresyntheticanal
4、oguesofnaturalmembranes.Consequently,inviewofthefactthatthelipidcompositionofthecellmembraneisfixed,thegeneralconceptinthepreparationofliposomesistomodifycombinationsoftheselipidmixtures(toemulatethenaturalmembrane)inthepresenceorabsenceofavarietyofbioact
5、ivemoleculeswithdiversefunctions.Themethodsforthepreparation,isolation,andcharacterizationofliposomesareasdiverseastheapplicationsofthesemoleculesinhealthanddisease.Accordingly,wefeelitisadauntingtasktocovereachandeverymethodthathasbeendescribedforprepar
6、ingliposomes.Thus,inthischapterwehavefocusedonthepreparationofthreeclassesofliposomes,namely,themultilamellarvesicles(MLVs),smallunilamellarvesicles(SUVs),andlargeunilamellarvesicles(LUVs).Severalexcellentbooksonliposometechnologyanditsapplicationinhealt
