3、nagementdirectlyoutofcollegein1987,asalaboratorysupervisorwiththeAlabamaregionoftheAmericanRedCross.Theexperiencewasgreat.Itgavemetheopportunitytoreallydevelopmypeopleskills.Aftertwoyears,Ihadtheopportunitytoadvancetothepositionofassistanttechnicaldirecto

4、r.Aftertwomonthsourtechnicaldirectorwasalsopromoted,andIthenservedasinterimtechnicaldirectorfortheremainderofthatyear.Icontin-uedtoserveasassistantdirectorforanadditionaltwoyearsIn1990,theAmericanRedCrossconsolidateddonortestingaroundthecountry.FortheAlab

5、amaregionitmeantshiftingthetestingofdonorstoafacilityanAtlanta.ThisresultedintheclosingofthetestinglaboratoryinBirminghamandasignificantdownsizingintechnicalservices.Mypositionwasphasedout;howeverIwasgiventheoppor-tunitytoworkinasimilarcapacityinGeorgia.Io
