5、alroleinfluencingvegetation-restorationprocesses,butvarieswithtemporalandspatialcharacteristics,ofconcerntomanyresearchers.However,fewstudiesconsidertheinfluenceofdeepsoilwaterandvariedweatherpatternsinasemi-aridregion.Fourvegetationtypeschosenforthis
6、studyincludeartificialcaraganashrubland,artificialalfalfagrassland,naturallyrestoredvegetationland(Artemisiacapillaries,Agropyronchistatum,HeteropapusaltaicusNovop,Stipabungeana,StipabrevifloragrisebandLespedezadavurica),andbareland.Soil-watercontenta
7、tthetop400cmdepthwasmonitoredcontinuouslyfrom2004to2007usinganeutronprobe.Waterandwindsoilerosionwereinvestigatedgravimetrically.ResultsshowedthatsoilwatervariedgreatlyduringMaythroughOctoberwithdifferentland-usetypesandannualprecipitations.Soilwaterr
8、eachedalowerlevelinbothartificialvegetationlandsindryyearsbutrechargedwithgreatvariationinnormalyears.Soilwaterintwootherlandstendedtohavesimilarchangeswithlessvariationascomparedwiththeartificialvegetationlands.Soilwaterwasintensivelyconsumed
