2、erbridgeandthepowersource.TheuniquefeatureoftheZSIisthatitcanoperateeitherinbuckorboostmodewithawiderangeofobtainableoutputvoltagesfromagiveninputvoltage.Thistopologyalsoexhibitsbetterelectromagnetic-interferencenoiseimmunitywhencomparedtoatraditionalvoltage-sourceinverter(VSI
3、).However,theLCimpedancenetworkofZSIsignificantlyincreasesthesizeandcostofthepowerconverterandcanmakeitunsuitableforlow-powerapplications.Thispaperproposesanoveltopologycalledswitchedboostinverter(SBI)whichexhibitssimilarad-vantagesofZSIwithlowernumberofpassivecomponentsandmore
4、activecomponentscomparedtoZSI.Thesteady-stateandsmall-signalanalysesofSBI,alongwithitspulsewidthmodulationFig.1.SchematicofaZSI.(PWM)controlstrategies,havebeendiscussedinthispaper.ThispaperalsopresentsacomparisonofSBIandZSIwiththesameHowever,theimpedancenetworkwithtwoinductors
5、andtwoinputandoutputparameters.ThetheoreticalanalysisgivenincapacitorsusedintheZSIsignificantlyincreasesthesizeandthispaperhasbeenvalidatedusingalaboratoryprototypeofSBI,costofthepowerconverter.Therefore,thistopologymaynotandtheexperimentalresultsarepresentedforverification.Theb
6、esuitableforlow-powerapplicationswheresize,weight,andexperimentalharmonicspectrumoftheinvertersoutputvoltagewiththeproposedPWMtechniqueisalsoplottedandcomparedcostarethemainconstraints.withthatofatraditionalVSI.AlltheexperimentalresultsshowThispaperpresentsanovelpowerconverter
