2、ThispapersreviewsandexpandsthehybridS-parametersmethodforintentionalandunintentionalEMIanalysisofelectronicsystemsinpresenceofcomplexplatforms.TheproposedtechniquetreatsEMIasanadditionalportinthescatteringmatrixinadditiontothetraditionalPCBports.SuchamathematicaltreatmentoftheEMIsignalprovides
3、forastraightforwardcharacterizationofnon-linearRF-Digitalsystemsbycombiningcircuitanalysiswithfullwavemicrowaveanalysis.Assuch,fullwavesolverscanbecombinedSPICE-likecircuitsolversforEMIcharacterizationsofpracticalsystems.Severalapplicationsforplanewaveandnearzoneincidencesaregiven,includingtho
4、seofintermodulationinapoweramplifier,digitalmodulationcommunicationsystem,integrityofantimerplacedinsideanautomobile.1.IntroductionElectromagneticInterference(EMI)onelectronicsystemshasbeenstudiedfordecades.ManytheoreticalandprotectiontechniqueshavebeenproposedtoreduceormitigateEMIimpact.Howev
5、er,forthemostpart,thesetechniquesarelimitedtothecircuitboardanddonotaccountforthesurroundingstructuresathighfrequencies.Todoso,itisrequiredtointegratefullwaveandcircuitanalysismethods.NotingthatscatteringparametersarethebridgebetweenKVL/KCLandfullwavemethods,werecentlydevelopedthehybridS-param
6、eterconcepttomodelexternalfieldcouplingontoRF/mixedsignalcircuitsresidingoncomplexplatforms[1],[2].Usingthisscatteringmatrixformalism,externalEMIwasmodeledasanadditionalhybridportaccountingforallforcedexcitations.ThecapturedhybridS-matrixentriescanthenbeexportedtoanycircuitsolversuchasADS(Adva
7、ncedDesignSystemofAgilent),HSPICEoracustomdevelopedcircuittoolsetforcompleteEMIcharacterizationofcomplex(structures,PCBsandcircuits).Thiscapabilitytointegratemanydifferentcontributionsfromvariouscomponents(infrequencyortimedomain)isuniq
