3、formationeconomyontheInternettochangethewaywedobusiness.Inthecentreofthesedevelopmentsareelectronicpaymentmechanismsthatprovidethefinancialinfrastructureneededtoopentheelectronicmarketplace.Thispapergivesanoverviewofthesenewpaymentmechanismsbydescribingandevaluatingsomeofthosethatcurrentlyexistora

4、rebeingdeveloped.Thesereviewsandevaluationsarenecessarilysomewhattentative,becausethevarioussystemsareatdifferentstagesofdevelopmentandthevariouscompaniesoperateatdifferentlevelsofpublicdisclosure.Thispaperisorganisedinthefollowingway.Inthesecondsection,weproposeaclassificationschemaforthedifferen

5、telectronicpaymentsystems.Foreachcategorywechooseafewrepresentativesystemstobeexaminedinthispaper.Inthethirdsection,weproposeanevaluationapproach.Thisevaluationapproachusessomeofthemostimportantparametersassociatedwithafinancialtransactionincludingsecurity,privacyandtransactioncost.Inthefourthsect
