2、bedmodelsofvoluntarycounselingandtestingvillagesandlatertourbancenters.Inthe1990s,(VCT)servicedeliveryandanalyzedhowamodelHIVprevalenceroseto18%beforefinallydroppinginfluenceduptakeofVCTservicesinaUgandanto6%in2006afterbehavioralchangeinterventionscommunity.Aquantitative,explo
3、ratory,anddescrip-(MinistryofHealth[MoH]&ORCMacro,2006).tivedesignwasused.Respondents(N5127,52%DespitegainsmadeinreducingHIVprevalence,theremale,48%female)provideddataduringstructuredisconcernthatthepresenceofHIVreservoirsinsomeinterviews.AlthoughknowledgeaboutHIVtransmis-fis
4、hingcommunitieswillerodethepositiveresultssionandpreventionwashigh,only47.2%ofrespon-(MinistryofAgriculture,AnimalHusbandry,anddentshadbeentestedforHIV.MarriedpeoplewereFisheries[MAAF],2005).Subsequently,theUgan-lesslikelytohavebeentestedthanunmarriedpeople.dangovernmentandi
5、tsdevelopmentpartnershaveThemostcommonreasonsfortestingincludedriskymadeseriouseffortstoensurethatallUgandanslifestyle,signsandsymptomsrelatedtoHIV,sexpart-haveaccesstovoluntarycounselingandtestingners’riskylifestyles,andasexpartner’sdeath.The(VCT)services(MoH,2004).mostcomm
6、onbarrierstotestingwerefearofresults,VCTisinternationallyrecognizedasaneffectivebeliefthatitwasnotnecessary,andlackoftime.VCTandimportantstrategyforbothHIVpreventionandusewaslow.Sensitizationtotesting,mobilizationofthecommunity,andimprovingthequalityandvolumeofVCTservicesare
