2、isor:JoacimSprungSpringsemester2014AbstractThisthesisinvestigatestheontologicalmeta-narrativesofglitchartandfocusesonitasthetransitionfromimageswithnoise,intoasiteofmeaning.InthefirstchapterIwilldiscussglitchartasafailureincommunicationthatstimulatesourperception.Byrel

3、atingglitcharttonoiseart,Iwilldescribetheprevalenceofacommonartisticapproachtowardserrors,whilethroughFiske’snotionof‘entropy’Iwillexaminehowunconventionalinformationaffectsus.Thesefindings,combinedwiththeanalysisofdistinctglitcharttypologiesinthesecondchapter,willhigh

4、lighttheinstrumentalizationofaccidentsasamethodforprocessingreality.Thismethodwillbeinvestigatedthroughacontentanalysisofadigitalglitch-artworkthatwillbeboundwithLyotard’snotionofthe‘aestheticsofpost-modernity’andVirilio’sconceptofa‘visionmachine’.Thiscontextualization

5、willintroduceglitchartasametonymforrealityandasamechanismthatrevolutionizesourperceptionandreinforcesourtoleranceagainstthestressthatVirilioascribestotheunknownsourceoftheOriginalAccident.Thethirdchapterisinvestigatinghybridglitchartformsastheresultofthismeaningmakingp

6、rocess.Throughtheexaminationofanoilpaintingthatimitatesthevisualmanifestationofdigitalerrors,IwilldemonstratethatthereisasemioticinterrelationbetweenglitchartandtheAccident,whichsimultaneouslyredefinestheontologyoftheformer,asglitchartisbecomingtheMythoftheAccident.Asa
