2、onditions(75OC,N,)fromtendifferenttypesofbiomassbelongingtoawiderangeofplantoriginsandwithawiderangeofnaturalmetalioncontents.Whenthesecharsweregasifiedwithcarbondioxideat700°Ctheratesofgasificationwerefoundtoshowlineardependenceonthecombinedmolarconcentrati
3、onofthedominantmetals(potassiumandcalcium),withcorrelationcoefficientI=0.970,providedtwosampleswereomitted.Thesamplesomittedwerefromwheatstrawandcoirdust,whichhadthehighestsiliconcontentofthesamplesstudiedandshowedabnormallylowratesofgasification.Itwasconclu
4、dedthatthecatalyticeffectofKwasreducedbyreactionwithsilicatoformsilicateduringpyrolysis.ThiswasconfirmedbyadditionofsilicatoahighK,lowSisample(potatopulp)andbyobservationofthereducedgasificationrateinthederivedchar.CatalysisofgasificationbyCa(inlignite)doesn
5、otappeartobesignificantlyreducedbysilicaundertheaboveconditions.Theseresultsindicatethatthegasificationreactivitiesofcharsfromanytypeofbiomasscanbepredictedwithreasonablecertaintyfromknowledgeofthemetalioncontent,providedthebiomasshaslowSicontent.Italsoappea
