3、onsamongplace,gender,politicsandjustice.Wecallthisframework,“WomenandthePoliticsofPlace”.Weseethebookascontributingtotheanalysisofpoliticalmovements(women’smovementandeconomicandsocialjusticemovements,includingthoseevolvingaroundtheWorldSocialForumproce
4、sses).Hereourbookcontributestoadualrearticulationofpolitics.Ontheonehandourbookisachallengetothetraditionallefttobeawareofhowplace-basedpracticesofwomeninvolveaninterrelatedsetoftransformationsaroundbody,environmentandtheeconomythatcouldprovidealternati
5、vewaysforwardintheirmobilizationsasexplainedbythe“womenandthepoliticsofplace”framework.Forexample,whenopposingeconomicrestructuringitisimportanttotakeintoaccountfactorsaffectingbody,environmentandhomethataremadeinvisiblebyconventionalpoliticalideologies
6、.Ontheotherhand,women’sgroupsinvolvedinsexual,healthandreproductiverightsissuescouldalsousethelanguageandperspective1providedby“womenandthepoliticsofplace”toreinterprettheirstrugglesasenmeshedinbroaderenvironmentalandeconomicprocesses.Inputtingthebookto
7、gether,thequestionofwhywomenandwhyplaceemergedinmultipleways.Astheprojectunfolded,westartedbytheorizingplacetomeanwhatwomendefineastheirenvironmentandwhatdeterminestheirlivelihoods,beingandidentity–thatis,body,home,localenvironsandcommunity,thearenaswhi
