2、derstandingoftheinspirationofScriptureandtheinterpretiveprocess.Bylocatingtheimaginationinthisinteractionamongwriter,reader,andGod,IsurfaceColeridge’smoresignificantdescriptionofimaginativethinkingasaspiritualactthatcallsusintothetruthofourbeingandoftheworld’sreality.Implicitin
3、Coleridge’svisionisacorrela-tionbetweenhumanimaginativecreativityandthecreativebeingofGodasadimensionofourrealityastheimageofGod.Thus,Iclaimthatimag-inativepreaching,whenseenthroughColeridge’slens,renewsthatimagewithinus,awakeningustoourrealityasspiritual,freebeings,butonlywhe
4、nweenactourfreedomwithinthecontextofGod’sfreedomandactionwhichweknowthroughourreadingofScripture.AttheconclusionofherstudyonbiblicalpreachingintheAnglicantrad-ition,EllenDavisoffersanessayontheexegeticalimagination.Inthisbook,DavisleadsherreadersonatouroffiveAnglicanpreacherswh
5、oseimaginativerenderingofScriptureengagedtheiraudienceswiththebiblicaltext.Inherconclusion,then,Davisadvocatesforthecontem-porarypreacherthissameimaginativeapproachtoScripturethatopensthestrangewaysofGodwithinthetexttothesermon’sauditorstoconvertthemtothesame.‘Ipropose,’shewri
