4、ethodsarelimitedintheirrepresentationoftheposteriorprocessinthepresenceofdata.Inthiswork,wepresentanovelGaussianprocessapproximationtotheposteriormeasureoverpathsforageneralclassofstochasticdifferentialequationsinthepresenceofobservations.Themethodisappliedtotwosimpleproblem
5、s:theOrnstein-Uhlenbeckprocess,ofwhichtheexactsolutionisknownandcanbecomparedto,andthedouble-wellsystem,forwhichstandardapproachessuchastheensembleKalmansmootherfailtoprovideasatisfactoryresult.Experimentsshowthatourvariationalapproximationisviableandthattheresultsareverypr
