4、ndervariousambientpressureconditionsinahighpressurechamber.InordertoobservethebiodieselandDMEfuelspraybehaviorsundervariousambientpressures,thesprayimageswereanalyzedatvarioustimesafterthestartofenergizationusingavisualizationsystemconsistingofahighspeedcameraandtwometalhalidelightsources.Inaddit
5、ion,ahighpressurechamberthatcanwithstandapressureof4MPawasusedforadjustingtheambientpressure.Fromthesprayimages,spraycharacteristicssuchasthespraytippenetration,coneangle,area,andcontourplotatvariouslightintensitylevelswereanalyzedusingimageconversionprocessing.Also,thelocalSautermeandiameters(SM
6、D)weremeasuredatvariousaxial/radialdistancesfromthenozzletipbyadropletmeasuringsystemtocomparetheatomizationperformancesofthebiodieselandDMEsprays.Theresultsshowedthattheambientpressurehadasignificanteffectonthespraycharacteristicsofthefuelsatthevariousexperimentalconditions.Thespraytippenetratio
7、nandsprayareadecreasedastheambientpressureincreased.ThecontourplotofthebiodieselandDMEspraysshowedahighlightintensitylevelinthecenterregionsofthesprays.Inaddition,itwasrevealedthattheatomizationperformanceofthebiodiese
