4、(designatedGm-JAGGED1)homologoustoArabidopsisJAGGED(JAG)thatregulateslateralorgandevelopmentandthevariantexertsapleiotropiceffectonfruitpatterning.Thegenomicregionthatregulatesboththetraitswasmappedtoa12.6-kbregioncontainingonlyonegene,Gm-JAG1.IntroducingtheGm-JAG1alleleintoaloss-of-

5、functionArabidopsisjaggedmutantpartiallyrestoredthewild-typeJAGphenotypes,includingleafshape,floweropening,andfruitshape,buttheGm-jag1(ln)andEAR-deletedGm-JAG1allelesinthejaggedmutantdidnotresultinanapparentphenotypicchange.Theseobservationsindicatethatdespitesomedegreeoffunctionalcha

6、ngeofGm-JAG1duetothedivergencefromArabidopsisJAG,Gm-JAG1complementedthefunctionsofJAGinArabidopsisthaliana.However,theGm-JAG1homoeolog,Gm-JAG2,appearstobesub-orneofunctionalized,asrevealedbythedifferentialexpressionofthetwogenesinmultipleplanttissues,acomplementationtest,andanallelic
