5、Eventually,theconversationturnedtothequestionofwhatthesewomencoulddointheirinteractionswithwomenstudentstosupportandencouragethem.IvolunteeredthatoverthecourseofmygraduatecareerIhadcollectedavarietyofpapersande-maildiscussionsabouthowtobeagoodadvisor,howtogetthroughgraduateschool,an

6、dissuesfacingwomen.Theywereeagertogetthismaterial,andItoldthemIwouldsortthroughitwhenIgotachance.Aftermentioningthisprojecttoanumberofpeople,bothgraduatestudentsandfaculty--allofwhomexpressedaninterestinanythingIcouldgivethem--Irealizedtwothings:first,theissuesthatweweretalkingabout

7、reallywerenotjustwomen'sissuesbutwereofinteresttoallgraduatestudents,andtoallcaringadvisors.Second,inordertodisseminatetheinformationIhadcollected(andwasstartingtocollectfromothers)itseemedtomakemoresensetocompileabibliography,andwriteapaperthatwouldsummarizethemostusefuladviceandsu
