4、lanningprocess.Anotherchallengestemsfromthefactthat,despitehavingacentralizedplanningscheme,generationplansaresetfirstandthentransmissionexpansionplansarecarriedout.Thisthesisaddressestheseproblems.Ajointmodelforgenerationandtransmissionexpansionforthevert
5、icallyintegratedindustryisproposed.Randomnessisconsideredindemand,equivalentavailabilityfactorsofthegenerators,andtransmissioncapacityfactorsofthetransmissionlines.Thesystemexpansionmodelisformulatedasatwo-stagestochasticprogramwithfixedrecourseandprobabil
6、isticconstraints.ThetransmissionnetworkisincludedviaaDCapproximation.ThemeanvarianceMarkowitztheoryisusedasariskminimizationtechniqueinordertominimizethevarianceoftheannualizedestimatedgeneratingcost.Thissystemexpansionmodeliscapableofconsideringthelocati
