1、TheMacroeconomicsofMonetaryUnionTheCFAFrancZonecurrentlycomprisesagroupoffifteenfrancophoneAfricancountriesthatdevelopedaftervariouscolonies,havingachievedpoliticalindependencefromFranceinthelate1950sandearly1960s,chosetoretaincloseeconomiclinkswiththeirformercolonialpower.T

2、heCFAFrancislinkedtotheFrenchFrancandEuro,andisaprimeexampleofcrossnationalmonetaryunion.DavidFieldingusesmacroeconomictheoryandeconometricmodellingtechniquestoaddressthepolicyissuesrelatingtotheCFAFrancZone.Withinthismethodologicalframework,thebookanalysesthewaysinwhichthem

3、onetaryinstitutionsoftheCFA,whichareuniqueamongdevelopingeconomies,influencemacroeconomicdevelopmentandpolicyformation.Thethreemainthemesare:•TheimpactofthefixedexchangerateregimeonmonetaryandfiscalpolicywithintheCFAandthewayinwhichexternalshocksimpactonmembersoftheZone.•The
