1、EEIMemberCompanyElectricTransportationEfforts2010Thisreportispartofacomprehensiveelectricutilityindustryeffort,underthedirectionofthemembersofEdisonElectricInstitute’s(EEI)CEOElectricTransportationTaskForce(ETTF),toadvanceindustry-widesupportandleade
2、rshipintransitioningtowide-spreadelectrificationofthetransportationsector.The2009reportwasmeanttoprovideinformationonelectrictransportationinitiativesamongutilities,andtodeterminehowthoseinitiativesfitinwiththeoverallgoalofadvancingtheelectrification
3、ofthetransportationsector.Inearly2009,EEIorganizedaworkinggroupthatconsistedofrepresentativesfrom19ETTFmembercompaniestofurtheradvanceindustryefforts.Thepurposeofthegroupwastwo-fold:first,toprovidedirectionandfeedback,aswellasdevelopresourcesthatwoul
4、dhelpachievetheETTF’sgoalofwide-spreadutilitysupportforplug-inelectricvehiclemarketreadiness;andsecond,tohighlightutilityefforts,establishmilestonesandtrackprogressonanongoingbasis.Thisyear’sreportisdesignedtodemonstratetheprogressthathasbeenmadeinon
5、eyearandtoshowthenew,dynamicindustrylandscapethatisemergingasthefirstnewgenerationofmass-marketElectricDriveVehicleshitUSmarketsthisfall.Tothoseends,thisyear’ssurveyrespondentsnotonlyinclude18oflastyear’s19ETTFmembercompanies,butalsoincludeeightnewco
6、mpanies,whotooktheinitiativetobecomeapartofthiseffort.Thisyear,weaskedallreturningrespondentstoupdateandexpanduponthedatatheyprovidedlastyear,withanewemphasisoncollaborativeprojectsandpartnerships.Thenewrespondentsprovidedtheirhighlightsofcurrentinit
7、iativesandfutureplansinsupportoftheelectrificationofthetransportationsector.Thedatacollectedillustratethegrowthoftheindustry’sinitiativesandleadershiprole,bothintermsofthenumberofutilitiesinvestedinsupportingthewidespreadcommercializationofelectricdr
8、ivevehiclesandintermsoftheambitious,innovativeapproachesthesecompaniesaretakingtorealizethatoverallgoal.Mostimportantly,thisyear’sinformationshowsthatthosecompaniesthatweremakinginitialorongoinginvestmentsintoelectrictransportationinthepastfewyearsar
