2、5September1993;accepted20September1994AbstractThepossibleapplicationsofhumiditysensorsinautomatedsystemsforenvironmentalcontrolencompassmanyindustrialanddomesticfields.Verydifferentoperatingtemperaturesandavarietyofhumidityrangesareneededforthesepurposes.Thediff

3、erenthumidity-sensingmechanismsandoperatingprinciplesidentifiedforceramicsarereviewed.Ceramichumiditysensorsaredividedintoionic,electronic,solid-electrolyteandrectifying-junctiontypes.Examplesoftheperformanceofsomeceramicsensorsarepresented.Thecorrelationbetween

4、themicrostructureofceramicmaterialsandtheirhumidity-sensitiveelectricalresponseisdiscussed.Theimprovementoftheperformanceofionic-typehumiditysensorsbytheadditionofalkaliionsisexplainedintermsofinfluenceonthemicrostructureandontheintrinsicimpedance.Therecenttrend
