2、ectronback-scatterdiffraction(EBSD)tomeasuremicrotexture,thatis,spatiallyspecifictexturemeasuredonanindividualorientationbasis.OthermethodsofmicrotexturedeterminationarebrieflydescribedandcomparedwithEBSD.TheEBSDtechniqueitselfisdescribedinconsiderabledetailincl
3、udingrecentdevelopmentssuchason-lineautomation.ThoseEBSD-basedmicrotexturestudieswhichhavebeenreportedintheliteraturearesummarized,includingthosewhichprovideadirectcomParisonwithmacrotexturemeasurementsobtainedbyX-raydiffraction.Theconceptofmicrotextureasthetext
4、ureofindividualgrainsleadsnaturallytotheideaof"mesotexture"asthetextureofgrainboundaries.MesotexturedatacanbecomputedfromtheEBSD-generatedmicrotexturemeasurementsandthisisdemonstratedandexamplesaregiven.Examplesofmicrotexture/mesotexturestudiesinmultiphasemateri
5、alsarealsoshown.Finally,becauseEBSDallowsthesimultaneousdeterminationofmicrotexture/mesotextureandmicrostructuralinformation,itispertinenttodiscusswaysofdisplayingthissortofdata,andsothereviewiscompletedbyadiscussionoftherepresentationofmicrotexturesandmesotextu
