3、ightsthemaindebatesonthetopictodate,hopingtopresentthedifferentperspectivesthatexistonthetopicofqualityinteaching.Thereviewoftheliteratureisorganizedinthreemainpartsastoaddressthreemajorquestions:1)“WhatisQualityTeachingandwhyisitimportantinhighereducation?”2)“Howcanteachi
4、ngconcretelybeenhanced?”3)“HowcanonemakesureQualityTeachinginitiativesareeffective?”2.Qualityteachinghasbecomeanissueofimportanceasthelandscapeofhighereducationhasbeenfacingcontinuouschanges:increasedinternationalcompetition,increasingsocialandgeographicaldiversityofthestu
5、dentbody,increasingdemandsofvalueformoney,introductionofinformationtechnologies,etc.3.Butqualityteachinglacksacleardefinition,becausequalitycanberegardedasanoutcomeoraproperty,orevenaprocess,andbecauseconceptionsofteachingqualityhappentobestakeholderrelative.Theimpactofres
6、earch,ofthe“scholarshipofteaching”andoflearningcommunitiesonteachingqualityisdiscussedhere.4.Qualityteachinginitiativesareverydiversebothinnatureandinfunction.Theroleoftheprofessors,ofthedepartment,ofthecentraluniversityandofthestateisanalyzed,aswellasthegoalsandthescopeof
