3、BSTRACTWhenGusArchieintroducedhisequation–ArchieSocalledArchierocksarecharacterizedbyaresistivity(1942)–itstartedanewerafortheoilandgasindustryindexversuswatersaturationthatplotsasastraightlinebecauseitmadeitpossibleforthefirsttimetomakeonalog-logscale,theslop

4、eofthelinebeingequalto-nquantitativehydrocarbonreserveestimatesfromwherenisthesaturationexponent.Allrocksforresistivityandporositylogs.Initssimplestform(Eq.1)whichtheresistivityindexpresentsacurvaturequalifyArchie’sequationworksremarkablywellin“clean”asnon-Arc

5、hierocks.Negativecurvaturesareobservedwater-wetsandstoneformations:forrocksthattendtoremainmoreconductiveatlowsaturationscomparedtoArchieequation.ThatistheR=R/(Sf)2(1)twwcaseforexampleofshalysandsandofsomemicriticcarbonates.Positivecurvaturesaretypicalofstrong

6、lyRtistheresistivityofthevirginreservoirrock(nonoil-wetrockssuchassomecarbonates.Thispaperinvaded),Rwistheresistivityofthewater(orbrine)presentsamodelinwhichasmalltermisintroducedinandfisthetotalporosityoftherock.ThevalueofArchieequationtocorrectforwaterconnec

7、tivitythewatersaturationSwisquitesensitivetotheeffects.Thiswaterconnectivitycorrectiontermtakesexponentinthisequation.Forexampleforarelativelypositivevaluesforpositivecurvatures,andnegativesmallsizeoilreservoirusing2insteadof1.8inEq.1valuesfornegativecurvature
