2、n,GOttingen,GermanyReceivedAugust3,1967Asystemofchemicalreactionshasbeendevelopedwhichpermitsthecontrolledgrowthofsphericalsilicaparticlesofuniformsizebymeansofhydrolysisofalkylsilicatesandsubsequentcondensationofsilicieacidinalcoholicsolutions.Ammoniaisusedasamorphologicalcatalyst.

3、Particlesizesobtainedinsuspensionrangefromlessthan0.05t,to2~indiameter.Inmanyexperimentalstudieswhichin-andhavebeendescribedintheliteraturevolvetheuseofcolloidalsuspensionsof(2).However,nosuccessfulattempthasmatterinformofhydrosolsandaerosols,itbeenmadetogeneratemonodispersesuspen-w

4、ouldbedesirabletohavethesuspendedsionsofsilicaparticles.Acommercialformphaseconsistingofhomogeneousparticlesofofhighlydispersesilicaproducedbycom-uniformshapeandsize.Suchmonodispersebustionofsilicontetraehlorideinahydrogenparticulatesuspensionsoffermanyexperi-torch(3)consistsofprima

5、rysilicaspheresofmentalandtheoreticaladvantages.Theysizesbelow0.1u,buttheyareaggregatedtonotonlyfacilitateeasycalibrationproce-coarseandirregularclusterswhichcauseaduresforanalyticalequipment,butalsoverypoorlydefinedstateofsuspension.simplifydatareduction,evaluationandin-Thefollowin
