4、broadrangeofstakeholdersbothathomeandabroad,andrequireatrulymulti-sectoralandmultilateralresponse.Sincetheheadlinesbroke,theGovernmentofChinahasbeenquicktorespond,bothhighlightingtheworkitwasalreadydoingandtakingmanyfurtherconcreteactions.Ithasalsorecognizedth

5、atthereismoreworktodo,andhasindicatedthatitwouldwelcomecapacitybuildingsupportandadvicebothfromtheinternationalcommunityingeneralandfromtheUNSysteminparticular.ThepurposeofthispaperistosetouttheUNSystemsanalysisofthefoodsafetysituationinChina.Itdrawsonthecolle

6、ctiveexperienceandexpertiseofalltherelevantUNAgencies,giventheircollectiveroleascustodianofglobalnormsandstandardsinthisarea.Itincludessevenseparatechapterswithpolicynotesonfoodsafetylegislation,management,inspectionandenforcement,tradedimensions,monitoringand

7、surveillance,communicationandinternationalcooperation,eachofwhichpresentsaseriesofpolicyrecommendations.ItisourhopethattheanalysisandideaspresentedinthispaperwillmakeastrongcontributiontoChinasongoingeffortsintheareaoffoodsafety.TheUnitedNationsSystemstandsread
