2、theresearchfieldofadsorptionanddiffusioninporousmaterials.Withthedevelopmentoftheoryandexperimentaltechniquesaswellastheimprovementofmolecularsimulation,studiesonadsorptionanddiffusionbecomemoreprosperous.Indeedadsorptionanddiffusionareveryimportantformanyapp

3、licationssuchasthecharacterizationofporousmaterials,adsorption—basedseparationprocesses,catalysis,especiallycatalytickinetics.ThisMScresearchhasbeenfocusedonadsorptionanddiffusioninporousmaterials,andthemainresultsaresummarizedasfollows:Combinedwithcarbondiox

4、ide(C02)adsorptionandamultiple—processadsorptionequilibrium(MPAE)model,activatedcarbonshavebeencharacterizedindetail.SinglecomponentadsorptionequilibriaofC02onthreecommercialactivatedcarbonsweresystematicallyinvestigatedbymeansofavolumetricmethodatpressuresup

5、to1barandattemperaturesrangingfrom195Kto323K.TheMPAEmodeldescribesthepresentadsorptionisothermdataverywelloverthewholerangeoftheinvestigatedconditions.TheinconsistencyoftheisothermscorrelatedbytheTrthmodelwiththosepredictedbyMonte-Carlosimulationforanadsorpti

6、onsystemintheliteratureWasinterpreted,i.e.itisprobablycausedbythenon-equilibriumisothermdatameasuredandthecorrectionbehavioroftheTrthmodelatlowpressures.TheestimatedsaturationcapacitybytheMPAEmodelisreasonablyconsistentwiththetotalporevolumedeterminedfromN2ad

7、sorptionat77K,indicatingthatC02hasahighdegreeofoccupancyintheactivatedcarbonsinvestigated.ThecurrentworkalsoconfirmsthatC02molecularisagoodIIlABSTRACTcandidateforthecharactrizationofporouscarbons,especiallymicroporouscarbons.Thethermodynamicpropertiessuchasad
