3、t-effectively,telcosarelookingtosoftware-definednetworking(SDN)architectures.SDNrepresentsanewparadigminnetworking–onethatiscreatinganopportunityfornewsuppliers.Open,standards-basedplatformsthreatentodisruptthebusinessofestab-lishedsuppliers,whichhavehistoricallyofferedproprietarysolutions.These

4、suppliersarelookingtodefendtheirturfwhilealsodemonstratingacommitmentto"openness."OpexsavingsisthemaindriverbehindthemovetowardSDN,asopposedtothecapexsavingsthatgenericx86platformswillprovide.SDNarchitecturesofferthepromiseofmoreautomation,simplifyingservicecreationanddelivery.TheabilitytouseLin

5、ux-basedtoolswouldenabletelcostouseasinglemanagementsystemacrossthecompute,networkandstoragedomains.Thisishowthehyper-scalecloudproviderssuchasGoogleandAmazonoperatetoday,andtelcosneedtobeabletomatchthemfromacostper-spectivetoremaincompetitive.Virtualization–whichisnotarequirementofSDN,butisofte
