4、-employmentagency.TheNewYorkCity-basedcompanyrecentlysurveyed16,000publicandprivateemployers.Itfoundmanufacturing,lightindustry,andhigh-techfirmswereleastlikelytobeseekingemployees.Temporaryjobstypicallyarethefirsttosufferinaslowingeconomy,butothersectorsthatemployteenagersheavilyh
5、avefallenonleanertimesaswell.Forinstance,theamusement,recreation,andhotelindustriesshedacombined43,000jobsinMarchandApril,saidJohnF.StinsonJr.,aneconomistattheU.S.BureauofLaborStatistics.Ironically,thepinchcomesasthenation’soveralljoblessrateremainslow.Statisticsshowthatfewerteenag
6、ershavebeenjoblessoverthepastfewsummersthanatanytimeduringthepreviousdecade.“Thejoblessratesarestilllowbyhistoricalstandards,”Mr.Stinsonsaid.Tenyearsago,forexample,theunemploymentratefor16-to-19-year-oldworkerswas21.1percentinJuneand15.7percentinJuly.Lastyear,theratewas14.4percenta
