2、ofyourrooms--(laughter)--andI'vebeenassuredthatitwillallbeputbackwhereitwas. (Laughter.) Iwanttothankallofyouforbeinghere. Andfrankly,becausethisisanice,intimatesetting,I'mnotgoingtospendalotoftimetalkingatthetop;Iwanttospendmostofthetimeansweringyourquestions,
3、takingyourcomments,havingaconversation. Itellyou,though,Icouldn'tmaketheargumenttoomuchbetterthanTonyjustmadeit. WhenIranin2008,itwasbasedonthepremisethatAmericawasbuiltontheideathatanybodycanmakeitiftheytry;thateverybodygetsafairshot,everybodydoestheirfairshar
4、e,everybodyplaysbythesamerules. Andthatideahadbeenslippingawayfortoolong. Soyou'dseenadecadeofsluggishjobgrowth;incomesandwageshadflatlinedevenasthecostofhealthcareandcollegeweregoingup. Andthequestionwas,howdowerestorethatsenseofbalance? Now,thisisallbeforeweh
5、adasensethatweweregoingtobeexperiencingtheworstfinancialcrisisandtheworsteconomiccrisisinourlifetimes. Andoverthelastthreeandahalfyears,obviouslywehavehadextraordinarychallenges--challengesunlikeanythatwe'veseen. Andtherearealotoffolksstillhurtingoutthere--alot
6、ofpeoplewhoarestilllookingforworkorunderemployed;alotoffolkswhosehomesarestillunderwater;alotofpeoplewhoarefearfuloranxiousaboutthefuture. Butwe'vemadeprogress. Thegoodnewsis,isthatoverthelasttwoyearswe'vecreatedmorethan4millionjobs--amillionjobsinthelastsixmon
7、ths--closetothelastsixmonthsalone. WehavebeenabletorestorethegreatnessoftheU.S.autoindustryatatimewhenalotoffolksthoughtitwouldliquidate. We'vedoubledcleanenergyproduction. We'vebeenabletostartseeingmanufacturingcomebacktoourshoresinawaythatalotofpeoplehadn'tan
8、ticipated. Thefinancialsystem,althoughitisstillhealing,isinobviouslymuchbettershapethanitwasbackin2007,2008. Sowe'vemadesomeprogress. Now,thereasonI'mrunningiswehaven'tmade
