3、ories(e.g.,totalnumberofstudentcom-curredinchatroomdiscussions.Anotherstudyreportedthatments)werecorrelatedwithfinalgradeintheclass.AnadditionalhonorsstudentstakinganInternet-basedstatisticscourseanalysisinvolvingonlythechatroomdiscussionofWeek3revealedhadpositivepercepti

4、onsofthecourse(Varnhagen,Drake,&that2DAcategories(i.e.,studentresponsetoaproblemorexam-Finley,1997).Onceagain,theacademicperformanceofplegiveninlectureandtotalnumberofstudentcomments)corre-thesestudentswasnotreported.latedwithfinalgradeintheclass.WediscussthepedagogicalTh

5、isstudyinvolvedstudentswhochosetoregisterforanimplicationoftheseresultswithregardtoaninstructor’sabilitytoInternet-basedsectionofaclassinstatisticalmethodsinpsy-identifyearlywarningpredictorsofstudentperformanceinthevir-chologyratherthanconventionalsectionsoftheclass.Con-

6、tualclassroom.sequently,studentsretrievedallcoursematerials(syllabus,quizzes,assignments,etc.)fromthecoursehomepageontheuniversity’sInternetserver.TheInternetservercoursewareThisstudyexploredthepossibilitythatadiscourseanalysisrecordedallonlinestudentactivityrelatedtothec
