2、itao【Abstract】ObjectiveToexploretheinfluencefactorsforthefunctionalimprovementafterthefetalolfactoryensheathingcell(OEC)transplantationforchronicspinalcordinjury(SCI).MethodsTheolfactorybulbswereharvestedandtrypsinizeddowntosinglefetalOEC.Theywereculturedfor12217daysprep
3、aredforuse.FromNovember2001toDecember2003,atotalof300patientsvolunteeredforthefetalOECtransplantation,amongwhom222sufferedfromcompletechronicSCIand78sufferedfromincompletechronicSCI.Theprocedureswereperformedonthepatientswithadiseasecourserangingfrom6monthsto31years(aver
4、age3.1years)aftertheirinjuries.ThefetalOECwastransplantedbytheformofinjectionsintothespinalcordattheupperandlowerendsoftheinjurysite.AllthepatientswereassessedbytheASIAstandardbeforethetransplantationand228weeksafterthetransplantation.Theinfluencefactorsincludingage,sex,
5、durationaftertheinjury,andinjurydegreesandlevelswerecomparedwiththoseinthefunctionalimprovementafterfetalOECtransplantation.ResultsThepartially2improvedneurologicalfunctionsassessedbytheASIAstandardwereindicatedbythemotorscoresincreasingfrom39.1±20.6to45.9±20.3(P<0.001),
6、thelighttouchscoresfrom5117±2419to6314±2310(P<01001),andthepinprickscoresfrom5310±2412to6513±2217(P<01001).Therewasnosignificantdifferenceinthefunctionalimprovementofthemotor,lighttouch,andpinbrickwhencomparedwiththeage,sex,durationaftertheinjury,andtheinjurydegreesandle
7、vels.Themotorscoresandlighttouchscoresatthecervicallevelwerehigherthanthescoresatthethoraciclevel.ConclusionThefetalOECtransplantationcanpartiallyimprovetheneurologicalfunctionsquicklyintreatmentofthechronicspinalcordinjury.Alltheinfluencefactorsexceptthemotorscoresandli
