3、achingL2writing.Abriefoverviewofgenreapproachisfirstlygiven,includingthecontextofitsemergence,thethreefocalareasandanexampleofitsapplicationinteachingwriting.Thecontroversiesoverthismethodareraisedandexamined,suchasvalidityofgenremodel,thenecessityofteachinggenreandthep
4、ropertyofbeingprescriptive.ItsbeneficialrolesinL2writinginstructionarealsodiscussedintermsofcombiningformandfunctionoflanguage,encouragingreflectivethinking,releasinganxietyinwritingandworkingwithESP/EAP.Finallywecometotheconclusionthatgenreapproachisadvisedtobeadoptedi
