2、e.ch,www.unige.chAbstract.Thepresentarticlediscussessomeaspectsrelatedtotheprocessoftextanalysiswithaconceptmapaimingatstructuringtextualknowledgeandachievingabetterrecallofinformationinthecontextofteachingtechnicaltranslation.Theconceptmapisconsiderednotasasys

3、temforrepresentingknowledgestructuresofdomains,butasacognitivemeansusedasamethodfortextanalysisinspecializedfields.Thepaperreportsdatafromaresearchprojectinwhichtheauthorcarriedoutanexperimentontwostndgroups:the1groupanalyzedthetextbyextractingitsdataintheformo

4、faconceptmap,whereasthe2groupproceededusingthetraditionaltooloftextanalysis.Thetwogroupswerelatersubjectedtorecalltests;freerecallandrecallbyquestionnaire.Oneveryconsistentfindingshowsthattheuseoftheconceptmapasatooloftextanalysishelpednotonlyinretainingthemain

5、informationunitsofthetext,butalsoinrecallingtextualunitsindefinedsemanticcategories.1IntroductionThereferentialbasisofthispaperisastudybytheauthoronknowledgerepresentationinbothreadingandtranslationtasksanditseffectsonknowledgeacquisitionanddevelopmentinspecial

6、izedfields.Inbringingthetranslationlearnertotheexpertlevel,wearguethatperformancecanbeimprovedwhenthemethodsandstrategiesarespecificallytargetedandtaught.Thispapersetsouttobrieflydeveloptheuseofconceptmapsasameanstocognitivelymaximizeandstructuredomain-specific

7、knowledgeandhenceguaranteebetterintegrationandretrievalofinformationinspecializedtexts.ThestudyispartofanongoingthesisresearchprojectattheSchoolofTranslationandInterpretation,EcoledeTraductionetd’interprétation(ETI),andjoinsaseriesofstudiesbeingpresentlylaunche
