2、479647H2CHEMISTRY(2013)INTRODUCTIONCandidateswillbeassumedtohaveknowledgeandunderstandingofChemistryatOlevel,asasinglesubjectoraspartofabalancedsciencecourse.Thissyllabusisdesignedtoplacelessemphasisonfactualmaterialandgreateremphasisontheunderstandingandapplicationofscientificconceptsandprincip

3、les.Thisapproachhasbeenadoptedinrecognitionoftheneedforstudentstodevelopskillsthatwillbeoflongtermvalueinanincreasinglytechnologicalworldratherthanfocusingonlargequantitiesoffactualmaterialwhichmayhaveonlyshorttermrelevance.Experimentalworkisanimportantcomponentandshouldunderpintheteachingandlea
